Bianca: Week Three

Last week was a blur. Everyone was running around with art work in one hand and Starbucks in the other. My first task was to remove all the vinyl on the wall from the previous show. Nothing too bad. Next, I thought we just had to move artworks to the back of the museum and move in the new ones. This wasn’t hard at all, but it got a little annoying when people lagged it and didn’t pick up their pieces. It definitely would’ve helped out quite a bit. For our next task we had to find pedestals, which I thought would be cake because we had all the pedestals we could’ve wanted and then some in the gallery already. Little did I know that Minh-Thu and I would soon be on a scavenger hunt. It had slipped my mind that most of the artworks would be mounted on pedestals, and they had to be just right for each individual piece. So, we ended up running around the museum like mad women measuring each and every pedestal to find the correct ones. As we found them we had to move them into the main room which wasn’t the easiest job in the world considering some of the pedestals were as wide as I am tall. We couldn’t find some of them, so that meant they would have to be custom built. Seeing first hand just how much work it is putting together an art exhibit gave me a greater sense of appreciation. I mean, I know its hard work to organize something like this, but I didn’t know it was that hard. This past week was fun, but exhausting at the same time. Never again will I complain about sitting for too long!
