Alison Petty Ragguette, Lost Marbles Trophy

OUTCAST stages a tribe of hybridized objects made of cast porcelain and silicone that are playful, alien, chaotic, and messy, that celebrates the awkwardly beautiful aspects of life. This installation incorporates unconventional objects that evoke children’s toys, tools, automotive, plumbing, and medical parts that spill, bulge, and burst. Revealing the rejects and residues of the casting process, OUTCAST engages the metaphors of societal constructs and social hierarchies and invites a dialogue by navigating between the margins of ceramics, sculpture, and otherness.

Working for over fifteen years, Alison Petty Ragguette has developed an expansive approach to making sculptural objects in porcelain, glass, and rubber. She has studied at Goldsmiths’ College, University of London (England), received her BFA from Concordia University (Montreal), and MFA from the California College of the Arts (San Francisco). She is currently the Associate Professor of Art at California State University, San Bernardino. Alison’s work has been included in over fifty national and international exhibitions.
