Heesoo Lee will be demonstrating her hand-building skills and beautiful surface decorations to you this coming May. Participants will be able to build pottery using Heesoo’s techniques and also apply her glazing methods to a piece of bisqueware that you have brought. The first day of the workshop, Heesoo will be a demonstration to you while you watch and ask questions. The second day of the workshop, participants will be creating in clay and experiment with glazing and decorating their pottery.
“You can’t correct it, or walk away from a piece and come back to it later, the way you can with a painting. Yet I like the subtle, elegant effect, and the way you have to be humble with the clay. I put my energy, my feelings, into the work, and I think people can feel that.” -Heesoo Lee
Heesoo Lee was born and raised in Seoul, South Korea and earned her BA in art from Ewha University. Lee began a full-time studio practice in Berkeley, CA in 2000.
