AMOCA offers 50-minute tours to both student and community groups. AMOCA’s exhibitions often relate to current social issues and offer many curriculum connections for classroom use. Exhibition Guides focus on a selection of objects that illustrate a theme or idea and engage visitors in lively discussions that emphasize critical thinking skills. Most school tours include a writing or drawing project in the galleries to encourage individual response. In addition to a guided tour, an exhibition-related art making lesson in our Ceramic Studio can be incorporated into your visit.

Scheduling a Tour
Two weeks advance notice is recommended for Guided and Self-Guided tours. Scheduling in advance helps prevent overcrowding in the exhibition halls. Tours are available Tuesday through Friday, starting from 10AM and ending at 3PM. Groups larger than twenty are divided and rotate throughout the halls. Required adult-to-student ratio: 1 adult: 10 students. A maximum of sixty students may visit the museum at one time. Exhibitions change regularly at AMOCA, so please refer to the schedule for exhibitions specific to the time of your visit.
Preview the exhibition before your group visits
Request a complimentary educator pass from the Education Coordinator so that you may fully preview the exhibition, discuss the tour focus with your guide and effectively introduce the museum and the art to your students. (email your request to

Student Tour Options
AMOCA is dedicated in continuing FREE tours for school-aged (Kindergarten through College) students!
During our 50 minute long tours, students and their teachers will participate in exhibition discussions and lessons that encourage individual response. Classes may also take part in an exhibition-related art making lesson ($5 a student). These tours will be tailored to class and instructor needs, and the Education Coordinator will be available to meet with teachers in advance for a free curriculum consultation.
Buy a Bus for Pomona students! Your $500 tax-deductible donation will help provide transportation to send two PUSD classrooms to AMOCA for a unique arts learning experience. The four-hour experience will include tours of the exhibitions, a hands-on activity, and an Art Appreciation talk about our mural, Panorama of the Pomona Valley. In acknowledgement of your generous gift, you will receive a school bus magnet made by a studio member and Thank You letter signed by the students.
