The Museum & Studio Tour is a comprehensive 90-minute experience that covers all aspects of the American Museum of Ceramic Art. Each tour is unique, but every tour includes a talk on the museum’s history and mission, a tour of the current exhibit with an AMOCA docent, a walk-through of AMOCA’s operating Ceramics Studio, and a visit to the Artist’s Gallery where resident artists display their latest work. $8 per person, includes early morning admission.
Studio Picnic
The Studio Picnic is a private experience, beginning with early morning admission to AMOCA’s facilities. The program includes all four tour elements as described above under the Museum & Studio Tour, plus a viewing of one of our rare or classic ceramics videos; the exact choice will be tailored to fit your group’s interest. Following your tour, your group will be able to enjoy a boxed lunch in The Ceramics Studio at AMOCA where you can watch artists at work, relax and enjoy the fun atmosphere of our studio. Includes a gourmet boxed lunch and choice of beverages. $20 per person, includes early morning admission, tax and gratuity.
Curator’s Luncheon
For discerning groups who want a more comprehensive experience, our Curator’s Luncheon is the ideal tour program. This is a unique opportunity to have a specialized tour by one of our museum staff members. Our tour coordinator will work with your group to create an individualized experience of AMOCA that is tailored to your group’s interests. Your tour will include a guided tour of the current exhibits and AMOCA’s facilities. Your two-hour tour ends with a buffet luncheon and talk by our Curator. During lunch your group will have a chance to mingle with museum staff members who can answer questions about the museum, its exhibits, educational opportunities, and more. $30 per person, includes early morning admission, tax and gratuity. Note: For the safety of our collection, our storage areas are not available to tour groups.
Afternoon of Clay
For adventurous tour groups, we can add an Afternoon of Clay to any of the above tours, whether you choose to eat at AMOCA or not. This is a two-hour Clay Experience, during which your group will have an opportunity to “get their hands dirty.” Participants can choose to try either wheel throwing or hand building. Clay and guidance is provided. Price does not include firing or glazing. $20 per person, in addition to your tour fee. Not available separate from the above offered tours.
