Announcing the 2021-2022 Artists in Residence

AMOCA announced today three artists in residence for 2021–2022: Natalia Arbelaez, from the Women’s Studio Workshop in Rosendale, NY; Kirstin Willders, from the Houston Center for Contemporary Craft in Houston, TX; and Colby Charpentier, from the Cranbrook Academy of Art in Bloomfield Hills, MI.

Apply for the 2021 High School Ceramics Exhibition

Since 2014, AMOCA has hosted an annual juried exhibition showcasing the remarkable talents of high school students studying the ceramic arts.

For the first time, the exhibition will include teachers and students from anywhere in the country. Applications accepted March 1–March 11, 2021.

Registration open for virtual tours!

Educational tours are now virtual! The registration process is simple, takes less than 5 minutes, and can be completed completely online.

You spoke, and we listened! Teachers and professors can select from live programs led virtually be AMOCA education staff, or pre-recorded programs and activities that can be led by the teacher at their leisure.

The Legacy of Sascha Brastoff

Alyson Brandes is a graduate of Chapman University and a 2020 Getty Marrow Undergraduate Intern at AMOCA. During her internship, Brandes writes periodically for AMOCA.org, and posts on Instagram and Facebook on Tuesdays.

In her fourteenth blog, The Legacy of Sascha Brastoff, Brandes explores Brastoff’s legacy and identity as an iconic mid-century designer and artist in Los Angeles.

Museum reopening on hold

Governor Newsom announced on July 1, 2020 that museums and other indoor venues in LA County and 18 other counties will remain closed at this time.
