Virtual Artist Talk with Colby Charpentier, 2021–2022 Artist in Residence
Saturday, July 23, 2022 • 11 AM –12 PM (PST) • Online
Join us for a virtual artist talk with Artist in Residence Colby Charpentier. In this presentation, the artist will discuss work created during his 2021-2022 residency in the AMOCA Studio. Charpentier is a process-oriented sculptor dedicated to the exploration of ceramic materials. His artistic process, grounded in a study of historical and contemporary materials production, deconstructs and reinterprets traditional vessel forms with visually arresting studies of texture, form, and color. His works are a tenuous balance of chaos and order, and a meditation on the tension between the organic and the ethereal.
This event is free and open to the public. RSVP using the form below (it may take a moment to load). If you prefer, you may also RSVP by emailing email@example.com or by calling (909) 865-3146.
Colby Charpentier received his M.F.A. from the Cranbrook Academy of Art (Bloomfield Hills, MI) and his B.F.A. from Alfred University (Alfred, NY). He has served as a resident artist at the Morean Center for Clay (St. Petersburg, Florida), Sonoma Ceramics (Sonoma, CA), Goggleworks Center for the Arts (Reading, PA), and the Harvard Ceramics Program (Boston, MA). Charpentier has taught at the Massachusetts College of Art and Design (Boston, MA) and the Harvard Ceramics Program (Boston, MA), and been the recipient of numerous awards. Charpentier is in residence September 2021–August 2022.
