Support AMOCA’s Permanent Collection

Set in motion by a generous initial donation by Catherine McIntosh and Charles Tuggle, the McIntosh Fund supports AMOCA’s permanent collection, including collection management, acquisitions, storage, conservation, display, and loans.

Harrison McIntosh (1914-2016) was one of the best-known ceramic artists of the Pomona Valley and a leader in the post-World War II Southern California crafts movement. His beautifully crafted ceramic pottery and sculpture was recognized for its precision, perfect proportions, repetitive lines, and subtle, decorative graphic elements.  McIntosh’s pieces have been collected by, among others, the Smithsonian Institution, Washington, DC; Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, MA; American Craft Museum, New York; Los Angeles County Museum of Art; and the American Museum of Ceramic Art. McIntosh has been the subject of two solo exhibitions at AMOCA, 2009’s Harrison McIntosh: A Timeless Legacy and HM100: A Century through the Life of Harrison McIntosh in 2014; the catalog produced in conjunction with A Timeless Legacy features a comprehensive review of McIntosh’s nearly 60 years as a ceramic artist.

The initial gift for the fund was provided by McIntosh and Tuggle in memory of Marguerite McIntosh, who so often made Harrison’s art possible.
