Butter Believe It! – Tour + Butter-Making Experience

Join us for an all-ages butter shaking event where everyone will get the opportunity to learn about functional ceramics and make their own butter. A museum docent will give us a tour of Hot and Ready to Serve: Celebrating Functional Ceramics and show us butter churns from the AMOCA collection. Then, we’ll learn how to create our own butter! Toward the end of the workshop everyone will be able to flavor and salt their butter using local herbs from our community garden Lopez Farms. 

All materials–a small mason jar, heavy cream, and local herbs from Lopez Urban Farm–are included, but some muscle will be needed to shake some butter. 

This event is appropriate for all ages, and everyone will be be given supplies for the butter-making activity. Youth ages 16 and under must be accompanied by a paying adult.

Pre-registration is required. Your “Butter Believe It” ticket includes admission to the museum the day of the event. AMOCA is open 11am- 4pm on Saturday, July 12.
